Pop sensation Miley stirred up speculation when she recently removed “Cyrus” from her social media handles. Rumors swirled about the reason behind this move – was it related to her relationship with her godmother figure, Dolly Parton, or a rift with her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus? Some even questioned if it tied into the launch of her upcoming album.

However, Billy Ray Cyrus stepped in to provide clarity via a social media post. He revealed that he has always affectionately called his daughter “Miley,” a nickname derived from her early days as a cheerful child. Miley, originally named Destiny Hope Cyrus, earned the moniker due to her constant smiles, a name that stuck with her over time.

Billy Ray Cyrus also shared how he introduced Miley to Dolly Parton, whom he had grown close to during his time as her tour opening act, leading to Parton becoming Miley’s godmother. The recent passing of Dolly Parton has deeply affected both Cyruses, emphasizing the importance of family to Billy Ray.

Despite the speculation, Billy Ray Cyrus supports Miley’s decision to go by a single name, seeing it as a natural evolution for a legendary superstar. This adjustment appears to be more of a rebranding than an official name change for Miley. Her upcoming album, “Bass Persuades,” is set for release on Sept. 18, alongside the announcement of two concerts at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in October.

Expressing her excitement for the upcoming performances, Miley shared her sentiments on Instagram, emphasizing her connection to Los Angeles.
