A man residing in Suffolk County, New York, was convicted of multiple charges after a violent attack on the mother of his children in her residence. Albaro Chacon, a 38-year-old Guatemalan national, assaulted the woman, threatening her with a knife and causing stab wounds to her arms. The incident occurred in the Brentwood neighborhood, where Chacon confronted the victim in her bedroom, leading to a struggle where she managed to protect herself and her two-year-old niece.

The mother, in a brave move, escaped the house with her niece and sought help from a passing motorist to contact the authorities. Meanwhile, Chacon placed their two children inside the family car. Despite the chaos, the victim’s son convinced Chacon to return inside while the mother contacted the police.

Chacon attempted to clean up the crime scene by removing evidence and cleaning the area with bleach. However, the police arrived promptly and apprehended him at the scene. The victim was taken to South Shore University Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Chacon was found guilty on several charges, including endangering the welfare of a child, and was sentenced to 15 to 17 years in prison by a New York judge.

Raymond A Tierney, the Suffolk County District Attorney, emphasized the seriousness of the case, acknowledging the trauma experienced by the victim and her children. He highlighted the long-lasting impact of domestic violence on families and expressed support for the healing process of the victims.
