A tragic incident unfolded in West Dublin as a young boy, identified as Oisin O’Reilly, age 11, was found dead at a residence in Lindisfarne Grove, Clondalkin. His father, Wayne O’Reilly, 48, was discovered deceased at a property in Cherry Orchard, Ballyfermot, in what is suspected to be a murder-suicide case. Reports indicate that Wayne O’Reilly may have taken his own life after the incident in Clondalkin.

The Irish police were alerted to the situation in Clondalkin shortly after the discovery of Oisin’s body. Authorities believe the cause of death for Oisin was asphyxiation.

Both father and son had previously been reported missing to the Gardai in October of the previous year but were later found safe, following a nationwide alert. The grim task of removing Oisin’s body from the scene was carried out in front of shocked and saddened neighbors, with the Garda Technical Bureau present to investigate.

A close friend of Wayne O’Reilly, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed deep sadness over the tragic events. Describing Wayne as a devoted father and a skilled mechanic running a car sales business, the friend noted a concerning decline in Wayne’s mental health in recent times.

Local councilors in Clondalkin and Ballyfermot shared messages of sympathy and sorrow for the families and friends affected by the tragedy. The incident is being treated as a murder-suicide, and authorities are not seeking any additional suspects.

In an official statement, the Gardai disclosed that they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the two bodies in Ballyfermot and Clondalkin. The bodies have been removed for further examination, and the investigation is ongoing under the supervision of a Senior Investigating Officer.
