Iranian state television has made a chilling threat against US President Donald Trump following his comments urging opponents of the regime to ‘Make Iran Great Again’. The broadcast featured an image of Trump with a bloody ear, hinting at a failed assassination attempt and warning that the next one would be successful.

Trump, responding to the situation, claimed that reliable sources informed him that plans for executions in Iran had ceased, contradicting public statements from Tehran officials about ongoing crackdowns on protesters.

The President had previously encouraged Iranians to continue their protests against the government, promising that help was on the way. He stated, “We’ve been told that the killing in Iran is stopping — it’s stopped — it’s stopping.”

Activists reported that between 2,500 and 3,000 people have died since the protests began, with Iran’s justice chief urging swift action to punish over 18,000 detainees through rapid trials and executions.

Families have expressed anguish over the hasty sentencing of their loved ones, like Erfan Soltani, who faced execution for allegedly ‘waging war against God’ during demonstrations near Tehran.

In response to the escalating security concerns in Iran, Britain has closed its embassy and recalled non-essential personnel. The Foreign Office has advised against travel to the country due to safety reasons.

The British government spokesperson announced the temporary closure of the embassy in Tehran, which will now operate remotely, with updated travel advice reflecting the consular changes.
