Bulgaria has been identified as the leading destination for an affordable summer escape this year, particularly for families. TravelSupermarket’s recent analysis of holiday prices for 2026 highlighted Bulgaria as the top choice, offering an average cost of £760 per person for a week-long, all-inclusive stay. Following closely behind were Morocco at £852 per person and Malta at £862.
The study, based on family holiday searches from October 5 last year until recently, revealed significant price variations among popular holiday spots. Bulgaria, in particular, saw a decrease of £54 per person (7%) compared to the previous summer, making it one of the most budget-friendly options. On the contrary, Cyprus emerged as the most costly destination, averaging £1,186 per person.
Spain, a perennial favorite among British travelers, secured the fourth spot on this year’s list with an average cost of £888 per person, maintaining prices similar to 2025. Turkey and Greece followed in the 11th and 12th positions, with average costs of £1,057 and £1,096, respectively.
Croatia ranked as the 10th cheapest destination for the upcoming summer, with an average cost of £1,046 per person. Notably, prices for a typical Croatian holiday have dropped by 12% compared to the previous year, making it £136 more affordable this season.
For long-haul travel, TravelSupermarket highlighted Cape Verde as the most economical option at £1,247 per person, succeeded by the United Arab Emirates (£1,297), the Dominican Republic (£1,664), and Mexico (£1,694).
Chris Webber, the head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, expressed optimism about Bulgaria’s resurgence as a cost-effective all-inclusive hotspot, emphasizing the continued affordability of Tunisia and Morocco. He also noted Croatia’s positive price trend following a 12% decrease, which is beneficial for families considering this destination.
