EE has unveiled an enhanced version of its Scam Guard service to combat the increasing prevalence of scams targeting mobile phone users. The upgrade, available to all EE pay-monthly customers for £2 per month, aims to provide improved protection against cyber threats.
Since its initial launch in 2024, Scam Guard has successfully thwarted 169 million scam and spam attempts. The updated version is expected to double this figure over the next year. Powered by Norton’s Genie AI engine, the new Scam Guard features AI Triple-Lock Protection, comprising Safe Email, Safe SMS, and Safe Web tools.
Safe Email offers continuous scam monitoring for email accounts, while Safe SMS utilizes advanced AI to detect fraudulent text messages in real-time. Safe Web protects customers from malicious websites during online activities. Additionally, the upgrade introduces Scam Assistant, enabling users to receive immediate advice on the safety of various online content by uploading screenshots. Social Media Monitoring and Dark Web Monitoring functionalities are also included to alert users of any suspicious activities.
Malcolm Cubitt, Director of Product, Mobile at EE, emphasized the importance of adapting to evolving cyber threats and providing top-notch security measures for customers. The enhanced Scam Guard service reflects EE’s commitment to enhancing cybersecurity and safeguarding its subscribers from online fraud.
By prioritizing user security and leveraging advanced AI technologies, EE’s Scam Guard upgrade aims to offer customers comprehensive protection against a wide range of scams and fraudulent activities.
