Patients can anticipate a significant drop in cholesterol levels in their blood after about four weeks of taking atorvastatin. While the immediate decrease is observable, the long-term benefits of lower cholesterol take time to manifest. Lower cholesterol levels over months to years reduce plaque buildup in arteries, promoting smoother blood flow and improved overall health.
As the new year prompts some patients to reconsider their medication choices, Peter advised on the tolerability of switching to atorvastatin.
