Viewers in the UK relying on Freeview for their TV programming should check their equipment and consider performing a quick retune. This recommendation comes as there have been recent channel adjustments, including name changes and shifts in channel positions. While the alterations are not extensive, conducting a swift retuning will ensure that TVs are fully updated.

Confirming these updates, Freeview stated: “On May 20, 2026, several broadcasters are implementing changes to their channels.

“To keep your channels and TV Guide current, you will need to retune your TV.”

So, what are the alterations, additions, and relocations taking place?

Firstly, two channels are undergoing name changes. Hobbycraft TV on channel 97 has been rebranded as Shop Unlimited, and Great! Romance Mix on channel 61 is being substituted with Great! TV +1.

There are also adjustments to channel numbers. Great! Movies is transitioning from channel 61 to channel 62, while Great! TV +1 will occupy channel 61.

Freeview further added: “Channels on Freeview are continually evolving as individual providers choose to relocate, add, or remove channels.

“Freeview remains committed to offering audiences a diverse and engaging content selection.”

If the updates are not reflecting on your TV, manual retuning of your device may be necessary.

To retune your TV:

• Access the menu on your TV or set-top box remote

• Choose “set-up,” “installation,” “update,” or a similar option

• If prompted, enter “1234” or “0000” as the password

• Select “first-time installation,” “factory reset,” “full retune,” or “default settings”

• Confirm deletion of existing channels if required by pressing “OK”

• The retuning process should commence automatically

• Save any newly found channels as prompted during the scan
