Users of various devices, including Samsung models, are encountering screen flickering issues while using the Gmail app. Some individuals have reported instances where text disappears or is replaced by blank white boxes within the app.

Expressing their frustration, Gmail users have turned to social media platforms to voice their complaints. One user, Jeremiah, took to X platform to address Gmail directly, expressing discontent with the ongoing flickering problem on foldable phones like the Samsung Fold.

Similar grievances have surfaced on Google’s support forums, with one user detailing attempts to resolve the issue without success. The problem seems to be associated with Android System WebView, an essential Android component enabling apps to display web content internally.

Google product expert Kimiya Kitani has acknowledged the intermittent problems with Android System WebView on certain devices, particularly Samsung tablets. The issue has been escalated to Google for resolution.

Although the exact number of affected users remains unknown, reports indicate that Samsung foldable devices, such as the Galaxy Z Fold series and specific Galaxy tablets, are among the most impacted.

As a temporary workaround, Kitani suggests rotating the device to mitigate the flickering. The process involves opening emails in portrait mode, switching to landscape mode until the screen stabilizes, and then reverting to portrait mode.

In the interim, this workaround serves as a temporary fix while users await a permanent solution from Google.
