A leader of a Mexican cartel has appealed to President Donald Trump for assistance in rooting out corruption in Mexico. Cesar Alejandro Sepulveda Arellano, also known as ‘El Botox,’ who heads Los Blancos de Troya, a faction of the Los Viagras cartel, made the plea in a video circulated on social platforms.

Arellano, wanted by both Mexican and US authorities, urged Trump to tackle the prevalent corruption and violence in Mexico. He requested the US President to halt the deportation of Mexican migrants and instead integrate them into the American workforce. Alleging that Mexican officials solicited bribes from him, Arellano emphasized the need for intervention, highlighting the systemic issues within the Mexican government.

In his video message, Arellano criticized the conditions in Morelia prison, where his cartel operates, stating that the facility is inundated with drugs. He called out a government official for turning a blind eye to the situation, accusing them of complicity in the illegal activities.

Furthermore, Arellano called for scrutiny of the Mexican government by the US government and the United Nations, labeling it as the “biggest mafia” responsible for perpetuating conflicts and hindering the country’s progress. He denied involvement in violent crimes in a previous video and pleaded for the release of his detained family members.

The Attorney General’s Office of Michoacan has implicated Arellano in the murder of a prominent agricultural leader and issued multiple warrants for his arrest. The cartel led by Arellano has been linked to various criminal activities, including extortion, kidnapping, and territorial control in key agricultural regions.

While Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has cooperated with the US on cartel matters, she opposes foreign military involvement in Mexico. Trump’s mention of potential military actions against cartels was met with Sheinbaum’s firm stance against US troop deployment for such purposes.

The dynamics between the Mexican government, cartels, and foreign intervention continue to evolve amidst ongoing challenges in the region.
