Nightclub Security Personnel Charged with Assault on Winnipeg Sea Bears Player

Three security personnel working at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing assault charges following an incident that left a Winnipeg Sea Bears player with serious injuries earlier this month, according to authorities. Teddy Allen was assaulted in the early hours of August 3 at the said establishment, leading to his hospitalization as confirmed by the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The three individuals involved, aged 35, 37, and 58, were apprehended on Wednesday and charged with assault causing bodily harm. They have since been released on undertakings, as per a news release from the police on Thursday. While the specific nightclub was not disclosed, it was noted to be located on Main Street, between Portage and William avenues. Allen, who has undergone medical assessments and received a medical prognosis, is currently recuperating at home, as stated in a team-released written statement on Thursday. In response to the incident, Allen expressed that such an assault “should never have happened nor should it happen to anyone for any reason,” emphasizing his resilience by stating that he always gets back up when knocked down.
