Queen Elizabeth reportedly described Donald Trump as “very rude” during a private lunch following one of his visits to the UK in a 2024 biography titled A Voyage Around the Queen by author Craig Brown. The Queen allegedly expressed her disdain for Trump’s behavior, including his habit of constantly looking around as if searching for someone more interesting.

The biography also delves into the Queen’s opinions on Trump’s marriage, suggesting she believed there might be some arrangement between Trump and Melania. Brown drew parallels between Trump and other controversial leaders the Queen has encountered over the years.

Their initial meeting in 2018 was marked by Trump’s perceived breaches of protocol, such as arriving late and walking ahead of the Queen during official ceremonies. Subsequent interactions, including a full state visit, were met with mixed reactions from the public, with Trump causing a stir by reportedly touching the Queen’s back during a toast.

Despite these incidents, Buckingham Palace has not officially responded to the claims made in Brown’s book, maintaining that Trump was a respectful guest during his visits. Trump himself has expressed admiration for the late Queen Elizabeth following her passing, praising her as a “grand and beautiful lady.”

With King Charles now leading the Royal Family, relations between Trump and the monarchy seem to have remained friendly. During a state visit in 2025, both parties lauded the strong US-UK relationship and Trump’s efforts in addressing global conflicts.

As the dynamics between the US and the Royal Family evolve under new leadership, the cordiality between Trump and the monarchy appears to endure, reflecting ongoing diplomatic ties between the two nations.
