Russian drones have reportedly attacked a Coca-Cola plant near Kyiv, Ukraine, causing damage, as confirmed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The incident took place in Brovary, east of the capital, with no reported injuries. Zelenskyy mentioned in a video address that the plant was set on fire by Iranian-designed drones known as Shaheds, pointing to the significance of the American facility being targeted. Footage from Reuters TV showed firefighting teams responding to the scene with smoke billowing from the plant and surrounding fields.

Andy Hunder, the president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, stated that the plant’s employees were unharmed, and efforts are underway to evaluate the situation and ensure the safety of all individuals involved. A spokesperson for Coca-Cola Company revealed that the affected plant in Ukraine is owned by Coca-Cola HBC, an independent bottler. Coca-Cola HBC confirmed the safety of their employees and their cooperation with authorities to assess the incident.

The attack on the Coca-Cola plant comes amid the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which escalated into a full-scale invasion by Russia in February 2022, leading to a prolonged state of war between the two neighboring countries.
