English actress Lucy Davis, known for her role in The Office, shared on Tuesday that she has been undergoing treatment for Stage 4 breast cancer for the past 18 months. The disease, which is considered incurable, has now spread to her bones.

Despite the challenging diagnosis, the 53-year-old actress expressed a sense of peace and fearlessness about the future. In an Instagram post, Davis stated, “I’m trying to live out whatever might be left of my life in as fun a way as I possibly can.” She emphasized finding valuable lessons even in negative situations, highlighting the insights she has gained from her battle with cancer.

Davis revealed that chemotherapy is no longer an option for her, as the cancer has metastasized to her spine, right hip, and ribs. In a touching moment captured in a video on her Instagram, she read a poem titled Ringing Out by Irve Le Moyne before ringing a bell, symbolizing the completion of her treatment.

Hailing from Solihull, England, Davis rose to fame as receptionist Dawn Tinsley in the acclaimed British comedy series The Office (2001-03). Her character’s witty cynicism towards her mundane job at Wernham Hogg and involvement in a love triangle made her a fan favorite. Additionally, she has appeared in notable films like Shaun of the Dead (2004) and Wonder Woman (2017).

Despite coping with pain and occasionally using a wheelchair, Davis highlighted the importance of humor in her life. She expressed her fondness for humor, asking her loved ones to tease her as much as possible, a request they have embraced wholeheartedly.

An advocate for animal rights and a longtime supporter of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), Davis intends to continue her activism and acting career. She emphasized her passion for acting, stating, “Acting is one of the biggest joys in my life, and I am fully capable of continuing to pursue it.”

Encouraging others to prioritize their health, Davis shared that the initial lump she discovered was small, underscoring the importance of timely medical check-ups. She urged everyone not to ignore any health concerns and to seek medical attention promptly.

Following her announcement, fellow celebrities, including Jenna Fischer and Edgar Wright, expressed their love and support for Davis, sending heartfelt messages of encouragement and solidarity. Ricky Gervais, Davis’s co-star in The Office, simply responded with a heart emoji, showing his support for her during this challenging time.
