Tragedy struck as a plane carrying popular singer Yeison Jimenez and his band members crashed and caught fire in Colombia, claiming the lives of six individuals.
The aircraft, departing from Paipa Airport in Colombia’s Tundama Province en route to a scheduled concert, tragically went down after failing to ascend properly shortly after take-off.
Disturbing videos circulating online captured witnesses shouting warnings as the plane ran out of runway, ultimately crashing in flames at the end of the airstrip.
The victims included the pilot, co-pilot, and four passengers, including the 34-year-old musician Jimenez, who had a global music career. Jimenez had shared a poignant message on Instagram before boarding, reflecting on humility and the uncertainty of life.
Photographer Weisman Mora, who recorded a final video on the plane prior to take-off, was also among those who lost their lives in the tragic incident.
The ill-fated flight was headed towards Medellin, where Jimenez was scheduled to perform, and the crash occurred around 4 pm local time.
According to Colombia’s Civil Aviation Authority, all six occupants of the aircraft perished in the crash, confirming the loss of the renowned artist Yeison Jimenez.
Jimenez, a singer-songwriter with a lifelong passion for music, had previously shared his premonitions of an aviation accident in a podcast interview, expressing his recurring dreams of such a tragedy.
Among the other victims identified were pilot Hernando Torres, Juan Manuel Rodriguez, Oscar Marin, and Jefferson Osorio, with the aircraft reportedly owned by Jimenez’s company YJ Company SAS.
Camila Jimenez, one of the singer’s daughters, mourned the loss of her father on social media, expressing deep sorrow at his absence.
Fans paid heartfelt tributes on various social media platforms, remembering Jimenez as a talented artist and loving father, expressing disbelief and sorrow over the tragic event.
