In Davos, President Trump drew global attention with his speech at the World Economic Forum, where he mistakenly referred to Greenland as Iceland multiple times. This slip-up occurred amidst tensions with Europe and NATO over trade tariffs.

Following the speech, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt defended Trump on social media, claiming that the public misinterpreted his remarks. Despite accusations of the mix-up, Leavitt clarified that Trump’s written remarks correctly identified Greenland as a “piece of ice.”

Critics pointed out the error, highlighting a moment when Trump mentioned NATO and his role in Europe, mistakenly interchangeably using “Iceland” instead of “Greenland.”

During his speech, Trump also mispronounced Azerbaijan as “Aberbaijan” but correctly named Armenia. He emphasized America’s global dominance and asserted that only the United States could secure Greenland.

Despite some backlash, Leavitt praised Trump’s speech as a success, stating that it received positive reviews from the audience. She commended the President for striking an inspirational tone during the event.
