U.S. President Donald Trump recently undertook a covert military journey from Turkey, necessitated by an Iranian threat to his safety. The operation involved a maneuver where Trump switched planes using a catering truck shortly after boarding Air Force One from Turkey to Britain following a NATO summit. The move was kept under wraps until reports surfaced, citing undisclosed sources.

Trump confirmed the incident, explaining that the Secret Service and military deemed it safer for him to switch planes due to a perceived threat, which he dismissed as not intimidating. He acknowledged the inconvenience caused to the individuals left on the initial plane, including White House officials, security personnel, and journalists. Trump revealed that he was instructed to board a different aircraft for security reasons, emphasizing that he did not delve into the specifics of the threat, as receiving threats was a common occurrence for him.

The decision to change planes sparked security concerns and questions. Trump had initially flown to the NATO summit in a newly refurbished jet donated by Qatar but opted for an older Air Force One when departing Turkey, leading to speculation about the security measures of the newer aircraft. The timing of the trip, coinciding with rising tensions with Iran, raised further scrutiny regarding the cost and security enhancements of the new plane.

Before departing Turkey, Trump announced on social media his preference to use the older Air Force One for the journey to Britain, citing nostalgia. The newer plane stopped at the same base to allow U.S. service members stationed there to tour the aircraft. Journalists traveling with Trump on the decoy aircraft were advised to keep their window shades closed during the flight, with some White House staff and reporters initially unaware of the plane switch.

In response to queries about the closed window shades, Trump attributed it to safety precautions, implying a potential threat during the flight. He lightheartedly remarked to the journalists that if he was on a dangerous flight, they were too.
