CBC has secured an expanded presence in Canadian curling through a new five-year broadcast agreement that will enhance coverage of the Grand Slam of Curling playoffs and all Rock League matches on its platforms. The deal with The Curling Group, revealed on Thursday, will result in over 300 hours of combined television content on CBC and Sportsnet during the 2026-27 season.
A significant development for CBC is its involvement with Rock League. The professional league, which debuted in April, is set to return to CBC in January 2027. Every match will be accessible on CBC television and CBC Gem, while selected games will also be aired on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays.
Rock League consists of six mixed-gender teams comprising curlers from various nations. Its upcoming season will feature competitions on specific weekends in January and April, with matches scheduled from Thursday to Sunday.
In addition, CBC will play a more prominent role in the Grand Slam of Curling. Sportsnet will continue as the primary broadcaster for all five Grand Slam events beginning in October. The network will broadcast three draws daily from Tuesday to Friday, with CBC and CBC Gem joining Sportsnet+ for Saturday’s playoff coverage. Sportsnet will air the championship finals on Sundays, while CBC will also showcase selected finals throughout the season. The morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday to Saturday will still be available for streaming on Rock Channel.
This latest agreement builds upon CBC’s extensive curling legacy and expands its presence at major Canadian curling events. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed enthusiasm about continuing to bring Rock League to audiences nationwide.
The deals with The Curling Group aim to attract a broader national audience for both the Grand Slam and Rock League. Over the next five years, Canadian fans can anticipate more ways to follow the Grand Slam playoff weekends and the upcoming second season of Rock League on CBC.
