A rival pharmacy chain has stepped in to rescue 60 branches of another company facing financial difficulties. Allied Pharmacies has taken over the management of these locations, most of which are currently closed. However, Allied has expressed its commitment to restoring essential pharmacy services at these sites.

With this acquisition, Allied will expand its presence to approximately 210 branches in England and Wales. The company has emphasized the importance of community pharmacies in providing healthcare services and aims to promptly resume pharmaceutical services at the newly acquired branches.

The decision to save these pharmacies comes after concerns were raised about the closure of Jhoots Pharmacies, potentially leaving communities without vital health services. The ownership of the pharmacies is divided between brothers Manjit and Sarbjit Jhooty, with reports indicating a total of around 150 Jhoots Pharmacies in the UK.

Manjit Jhooty’s businesses operate over 20 Jhoots branches and have denied any operational issues. On the other hand, Sarbjit Jhooty has acknowledged workforce challenges and is working to address them. Both brothers have been in touch with the media to provide updates on the situation.
