Daniel Wells is determined to prove Ronnie O’Sullivan wrong following the snooker legend’s dismissive comments towards him. O’Sullivan, working as a pundit on Eurosport, advised Wells to stick to playing part-time rather than pursuing a return to the professional circuit, stating that Wells wouldn’t reach the required level to succeed as a pro.

Despite O’Sullivan’s criticism, Wells defied the odds by reaching the last 16 of the same tournament where he defeated Judd Trump. Currently ranked 41st in the world, Wells has shown strong performance this season, including reaching the semi-finals of the Xi’an Grand Prix.

As he prepares for UK Championship qualifying, Wells expressed that O’Sullivan’s remarks serve as motivation for him to prove his critics wrong. He acknowledged the impact of O’Sullivan’s words but emphasized that it fuels his determination to succeed. Wells highlighted that while the criticism wasn’t pleasant, he views it as an opportunity to prove himself at a higher level.

Wells reflected on the contrast between his current achievements and the doubts raised by O’Sullivan, emphasizing that he has earned a respectable living from playing snooker. He acknowledged the initial disappointment from O’Sullivan’s comments but emphasized that it has become a driving force for him to excel in the sport.

Meanwhile, O’Sullivan faced a defeat in the Riyadh Season Snooker Championship, losing 4-0 to Shaun Murphy. Murphy will now advance to face Zhao Xintong in the quarter-finals of the upcoming UK Championship.
