Police are on the lookout for a man who escaped from prison while serving time for attempted murder. Kieran Cameron, convicted in 2016 for an attempted murder in Dorset and sentenced to 23 years in prison, disappeared from HMP Thorn Cross in Warrington.
Cheshire Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Cameron, urging individuals not to approach him but to contact 999 immediately upon sighting him. Cameron, along with another individual, Michael O’Rourke, was involved in a violent incident where they stabbed a 22-year-old man multiple times in 2016.
The court revealed that Cameron and O’Rourke, facing threats from a rival gang, orchestrated the attack to shift blame onto their adversaries. The victim sustained severe injuries during the assault, prompting strong condemnation from law enforcement for such violent crimes.
Following his recent escape, authorities described Cameron as a 43-year-old white male, around 5 foot 6, with a medium build, receding hair, and a ginger and grey beard. He has connections to Manchester, Liverpool, and Dorset.
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Henderson of Cheshire Police’s Serious and Organised Crime Unit appealed for public cooperation in locating Cameron, emphasizing the importance of not approaching him and instead contacting the authorities immediately. Anyone with information on Cameron’s whereabouts is urged to contact the police.
A Prison Service spokesperson emphasized the seriousness of absconding from prison, cautioning that offenders could face extended imprisonment for such actions. Law enforcement is actively pursuing Cameron’s recapture and encourages individuals with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
