A prominent jockey narrowly escaped death when a horse she was riding fell on her, crushing her pelvis. Sonja Logan, a seasoned rider, faced a traumatic incident in 2023 when assailants attempted to steal her car. The attackers vandalized her vehicle, causing severe injuries to her face, including a broken nose, cut lip, and damaged front teeth just three weeks before her wedding.

Despite the criminals fleeing the scene, evading capture, Logan vividly recalled the excruciating pain she endured when the horse, Jumping Power Two, owned by her husband Tommy, was startled during a race. The horse reared up, causing Logan to fall to the ground with the horse landing on top of her, resulting in a crushed pelvis and intense agony.

Following the incident, Logan was swiftly transported to Darwin Royal Hospital and later airlifted to Adelaide Royal Hospital for specialized treatment due to the severity of her injuries. She underwent surgery, receiving screws and a plate to stabilize her shattered pelvis, narrowly escaping a fatal outcome.

Reflecting on the harrowing experience, Logan expressed that the physical pain she endured was unparalleled, ranking it as the most excruciating sensation she had ever felt. Despite the ordeal, she is currently recuperating at home with the aid of a walking frame, focusing on her recovery and potential return to riding in the future.

In a display of resilience, Logan, who boasts an impressive record of 547 wins, overcame personal challenges, including depression and substance abuse, by embracing competitive bodybuilding. Supported by a strong network of individuals, including her devoted husband, Logan remains optimistic about her rehabilitation and eventual comeback to competitive horse racing.

By choosing a path of physical and mental strength, Logan is determined to overcome the setbacks she has faced, showcasing her unwavering resolve and determination to triumph over adversity.
