A teenager in Arizona is facing charges of murder and burglary after allegedly killing his neighbor, 57-year-old David Jimenez, and squatting in the deceased’s home for two weeks. The accused, Xzavion Johnson, was arrested by the Phoenix Police Department following the discovery of Jimenez’s body in an advanced state of decay in the garden.
Johnson’s mother alerted the authorities after noticing a suspicious package addressed to her son on Jimenez’s porch and a foul odor emanating from the garden. When police arrived at the scene for a welfare check on Jimenez, they found Johnson inside the house. He barricaded himself for a period before being apprehended by the authorities.
During questioning, Johnson reportedly confessed to entering Jimenez’s property with the intention of robbing him, armed with a gun he had stolen earlier. He claimed to have encountered Jimenez in the yard, leading to a fatal shooting incident.
In a separate tragic incident, a three-year-old boy named Beckett Brown was fatally attacked by his grandmother’s American Bulldog at her residence. The grandmother, Kristen Nelson, sustained injuries while attempting to intervene and rushed the child to the hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries. The dog involved in the attack has been euthanized, and authorities have stated that there are no ongoing safety concerns for the community.
Officials determined that the boy had entered an outdoor enclosure where the dog was housed, leading to the tragic incident. The incident occurred on a Sunday afternoon near New York Mills, New York, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.
