This year, I’ve opted to decorate for Christmas earlier than usual. It’s a choice that often attracts criticism from some when shared on social media, but the key is to prioritize your own happiness rather than seeking approval from everyone else.

The decision to start early this year stems from the fact that both my partner’s and my birthdays are clustered around Christmas, leading us to often be away during the holiday season. By setting up our decorations at the beginning of December, we maximize the time to relish them and bask in their beauty.

In a time filled with negative news globally, I strongly believe in embracing anything that brings joy, even if it’s as simple as Christmas decorations. There is no harm in it, and if it brings happiness, why wait?

Amidst any mocking or disapproval, putting up decorations is a delightful activity in itself. It provides a chance to unwind, enjoy some festive music, and create a cheerful ambiance at home without spending extra money.

Unpacking decorations collected over the years, especially those with sentimental value, is a heartwarming experience. It’s a reminder of cherished memories, making the holiday season even more special.

Whether it’s hanging baubles from past vacations, homemade ornaments from friends, or beloved Jellycat decorations, each piece adds a personal touch to our festive decor. We even acquired a fresh wreath from a local market, being among the first in our neighborhood to adorn our door with it.

If you’re feeling a bit like Scrooge, I encourage you to embrace the holiday spirit. Play some classic tunes, let the joy of Christmas envelop you, and you’ll find yourself uplifted. It’s a simple way to boost your mood and spread some cheer during this festive season.
