The popular television series “The Traitors” has been a must-watch for me every season, regardless of my work commitments. Since its inception, I have been a devoted fan, always cheering for the Traitors to emerge victorious.

I vividly remember moments like Mollie’s betrayal by Harry in the second series and the disappointment of Wilf not clinching the top prize in the debut season. In the latest installment, my hopes were pinned on Charlotte, who I believe remains the most exceptional Traitor to date.

However, my allegiance shifted in this season to a single Traitor. In a surprising turn of events, both Stephen and Rachel were declared joint winners, dividing the prize money between them.

The outcome left me disheartened as Stephen had the opportunity to strategize effectively. He even hinted at possibly voting against his fellow Traitor out of concern that she might do the same.

At a crucial juncture, the Traitors unexpectedly displayed loyalty, resulting in a disappointing conclusion. I speculate that Rachel could have turned on Stephen during the final elimination, but she chose Jack instead.

Stephen had the chance to make a game-changing move by eliminating Rachel, creating a dramatic twist akin to the memorable Harry and Mollie incident from the past.

This season failed to captivate me as its predecessors did. The introduction of the Secret Traitor twist lacked longevity, and Fiona’s unmasking happened too soon. The Secret Traitor should have had more discretion to suggest names and maintain their anonymity.

Compared to the previous Seer twist, the Dagger twist and overall developments this season lacked intensity. The lack of tension between Rachel and Stephen was evident, despite Stephen’s constant air of guilt.

The concern for a show like this is that increased familiarity leads to reduced suspense. To retain its impact, the upcoming fifth season must introduce substantial changes.

A true Traitor should embody deceit entirely, a quality that these two winners failed to demonstrate convincingly.
