The White House under Donald Trump has announced an impromptu press conference set for today. The updated Daily Schedule now includes a briefing by Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. The specific topic of the conference remains undisclosed but comes amidst escalating outrage following the fatal shooting of an unarmed woman by an ICE agent in Minnesota.

In response to the incident, a large group of protesters gathered outside an immigration enforcement center in St. Paul, Minnesota, earlier today. The shooting victim, identified as Renee Nicole Good, a mother of three, was shot by an ICE agent as she tried to drive away from the scene.

Scheduled for 1 pm in Washington DC, the press conference timing corresponds to 6 pm UK time.

In a post on Truth Social following the event, Trump claimed to have seen footage of the Minneapolis shooting where the driver allegedly “violently, wilfully, and viciously ran over” the ICE agent, despite these claims being inaccurate. He also falsely stated that the injured officer was recovering in a hospital, though there is no evidence to support this.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz denounced the dissemination of false information, stating, “I’ve seen the video. Don’t believe this propaganda machine.” He further criticized the federal government’s handling of the situation, calling it a “total chaos.”

Video evidence of the incident shows an officer firing shots at the victim’s vehicle as it moved away, resulting in a crash. However, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem swiftly labeled the incident as an “act of domestic terrorism,” a claim that was disputed by Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. Frey refuted the official account released by the Department for Homeland Security, asserting that the use of force was unjustified and resulted in a tragic outcome.

The conflicting narratives surrounding the incident have sparked controversy and raised questions about the actions of law enforcement officials involved.
